Inspired by Don Buchla’s unfinished 1972 Model 277 design, the Buchla & Tiptop Audio 277t Signal Delay Unit brings an early modular approach to digital audio delay into the Eurorack format.
Developed at a time when tape delays were the standard, the original 277 explored emerging digital delay technology. While the module was never completed, Buchla’s surviving schematic provided the foundation for this modern interpretation.
The 277t is not designed as a conventional echo effects processor. Instead, it is a signal delay unit intended to be patched as part of a larger modular system. Its modular design allows delay-based effects and signal-processing patches to be created through interaction with other modules, extending beyond straightforward echo applications.
