Sell Your Equipment
Consignment with Found Sound
Our consignment service means we handle the sale of your gear for you. Once the item sells, the payout is the final sale amount minus a 20% commission.
If we feel your piece suits our shop, consignment will be the best way to achieve full market value, particularly for vintage or collectible instruments. We display your item both online, in-store & speak directly with committed buyers & collectors in Australia and overseas.
All items must be inspected on site before we take them on. Please keep in mind, we carefully curate the gear we are able to take on so we request that you contact us prior to bringing your items in. Â
Before Dropping Anything Off
Please prepare your instrument by giving it a thorough clean (dust or grime removed, including fretboard buildup, sticker residue, and similar).
For Guitars & Basses: Please make sure your instrument has a fresh set of strings on it prior to bringing it in. Not only does this ensure your guitar will look great in our photographs for its online listing but will also give the item the best chance of selling in store.Â
- If you'd like us to take care of this for you, there is just a flat fee of $35 + strings which we can deduct from sale (no payment will be required upfront).
For Synthesisers, Effects Pedals, Eurorack, Rack Gear & Accessories: Please ensure the item is presentable, free of dust, and complete with any original screws, ribbons, power supplies, or adapters where applicable.
Consignment Term and Listings
During the time your item is with us on consignment we ask that you don’t list the item privately (e.g. Marketplace, Gumtree, Reverb). As per our Consignment Agreement, our consignments run on a one-month minimum period. If your item is withdrawn during this period there is a 10% early withdrawal fee (relevant to the tagged price of your item).Â
Please keep in mind we often have a large amount of items being processed at any one time. We endeavour to publish your listing as efficiently as possible, it may take up to 14 days to process to ensure the item is described, photographed & listed in as much detail as required.
While Your Item is In Store
For Electronics (Amplifiers, Pedals & Synthesisers etc.):Â We take great care in handling, presenting & facilitating the sale of all electronic equipment however, due to the fragile nature of vintage & ageing electronics (particularly in older equipment), faults can occasionally develop over time. For this reason, we are unable to accept responsibility for any issues that may occur while the item is on consignment.Â
For Stringed Instruments: On the rare occasion your instrument requires a restring, a repair from a pre-existing fault missed prior to listing or any modifications to help facilitate your sale. We will contact you before of any work takes place for your authorisation.Â
All items consigned with us are securely insured while in our care, offering protection and peace of mind in the unlikely event of fire or theft.
Once Your Item Has Been Sold
When we sell your item on consignment, it’s important that buyers feel confident in what they’re purchasing. To support this, all second-hand items sold through our store come with a 7-day warranty from the date of purchase (or delivery). This gives the buyer time to assess the item at home and make sure everything matches the description provided.
During this 7-day period, the buyer must treat the item with care; any modifications, disassembly, or misuse on their end voids the warranty. The coverage applies only to issues that weren’t disclosed in the listing, as each item is sold exactly as described.
This approach helps maintain trust with our customers and encourages smoother, quicker sales for your gear.
After the 7-day warranty has passed, we will notify you for payment.Â
Trade In & Outright Purchase
In addition to consignment, we offer two alternative avenues for selling your equipment through our store.
For those considering a trade-in, we can provide up to 50% of the current market value of your item as store credit, which may be applied toward any purchase.
If you prefer an outright sale, we are able to offer up to 40% of the item’s market value as a direct payment.
As a general guideline, second-hand market values typically fall approximately 25% to 30% below the retail price of new items.Â
Please keep in mind, we do offer these options at our discretion but we'll be happy to discuss whatever option suits you best.
