MXR M81 Bass Preamp

Combining a clean bass preamp with a studio-quality Direct Out in a compact Phase 90-sized enclosure, the MXR Bass Preamp provides flexible tone shaping without taking up excessive pedalboard space. It can add presence and character to passive basses, refine an amp's existing sound, or provide a dedicated EQ setting for particular songs.

Separate Input and Output level controls allow for precise gain staging, while the 3-band EQ includes a sweepable midrange control covering 250Hz to 1kHz. MXR's Constant Headroom Technology delivers high-headroom, clean performance.

The balanced Direct Out can be set to send either the pre-EQ or post-EQ signal to a house preamp or recording setup. A Ground Lift switch is provided to help reduce ground-loop hum.

The Bass Preamp is factory preset with buffered bypass on the 1/4" output and the Direct Out active. Internal switches allow the Direct Out to be disabled and the 1/4" output to operate in true bypass mode for players using only the 1/4" output.
