The Martin D-12-28 is an American-made 12-string dreadnought acoustic guitar featuring a solid Sitka spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, and traditional Martin construction. Built in 1975, this example dates from a period of particularly high production at Martin, when the company's steel-string dreadnoughts were enjoying widespread popularity.

The combination of spruce and rosewood produces a full, resonant sound with a pronounced low end, clear treble response and the rich harmonic complexity characteristic of a 12-string acoustic. The dreadnought body provides substantial acoustic volume and projection, while the standard non-scalloped X-bracing contributes to a focused, controlled response.

The mahogany neck features a substantial soft-V profile, paired with an unbound ebony fingerboard and 14-fret neck joint. A short 24.9" scale length provides a slightly more relaxed string tension than longer-scale 12-string designs, while the ebony bridge and Grover USA tuners complete the traditional appointments.
