Early 1970s Gibson SG Special finished in Walnut, featuring its original pair of mini-humbuckers. This period of the SG Special paired the familiar double-cutaway mahogany body with a three-piece mahogany neck, narrow 1 9/16" nut and unbound rosewood fingerboard with block inlays.
A stripped-back take on the SG format, the Special combines dual mini-humbuckers with straightforward controls and the lightweight, highly accessible construction that defines the model.
Made at Gibson's Parsons Street factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA.

Headstock and heel have both been repaired at some point in the guitar's history. The repairs appear to have been glued a long time ago and are currently very stable.
The original tuners have been replaced with Grover Rotomatics, and the original bridge has been replaced with a Nashville-style Tune-O-Matic. The replacement bridge appears to have been positioned very slightly closer to the neck than the original bridge location. The guitar currently intonates correctly across all strings and plays well.
The pots are dated 1974 and are all original.
Recently refretted by James Cargill. The finish around portions of the neck appears to have been removed or smoothed, presumably in conjunction with previous fret or neck work.
Includes a non-original Gibson gig bag.
