Beautifully simple 1910s-1930s solid Koa soprano uke made in Honolulu, approximately 100 years old and in extremely fine condition for its age, featuring a flat headstock with four plastic tuners, and 12 frets. Sounds lovely; clear, warm and bright.
Ukulele Hall of Famer Jonah Kumalae (1874-1940) was one of Hawaii's most influential ukulele makers, producing some of the finest instruments of the early 20th century. Beginning production in 1911, the solid koa ukuleles gained international recognition after winning a Gold Award at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, helping fuel the worldwide ukulele boom.
Fretboard has some dimples from use (pictured), and there is some warping on the back bottom edge.
