Dr. Scientist Dungeon Crawler distortion Pedal

The Dr. Scientist Dungeon Crawler is a FET-based distortion pedal built around three MOSFET amplifier stages that generate all of its clipping and saturation. Designed as Dr. Scientist's most amp-like gain pedal to date, it covers a wide range of drive textures, from pushing a clean amplifier into breakup through to extreme high-gain distortion.

The circuit combines substantial gain, strong pick attack, extensive EQ shaping, clean signal blending, and an integrated noise gate, providing detailed control over both tone and feel.

A dedicated Boost footswitch increases both gain and output level, allowing instant access to a more aggressive sound when required.

MOSFET Gain Architecture

Dungeon Crawler uses three MOSFET amplifier stages for all clipping and saturation duties.

Deep Tone Shaping

The pedal features a comprehensive EQ section with independent controls for:

Gyrator-based EQ stages provide powerful frequency shaping and allow substantial control over the overall character of the distortion.

Additional controls include:

• Mix
• Thick
• Presence

The Mix control allows clean signal to be blended alongside the distorted signal.

Grind Control

The Grind control introduces a silicon NPN transistor rectifier stage that can be blended into the signal path.

This adds an additional layer of aggression and alters the character of the distortion independently of the main gain controls.

Integrated Noise Gate

Dungeon Crawler includes a built-in noise gate designed to help manage unwanted noise when using higher gain settings.

The gate amount is adjustable from the front panel.

Boost Mode

A second footswitch activates Boost mode, increasing both: - Gain - Output level

This provides immediate access to a more intense version of the current sound without changing the pedal's core settings.
