Channel Surfer (CHNL SRFR) is a compact 4HP Eurorack stereo channel strip combining parametric EQ, filtering, drive, performance effects and sidechain ducking. Designed for individual voices, submixes or full program material, it can be used in mono or stereo.

It connects directly to the Performance Mixer MkII Insert header via ribbon cable for integrated operation, or can be used independently through its front-panel input and output jacks.

Three processing sections are accessed via a three-way selector switch, while the Shift button provides access to secondary, set-and-forget parameters. All sections remain active simultaneously and can be made transparent as required. The serial signal path runs from EQ to filter, effects and finally the ducker. The I/O button bypasses the complete processing path.

Processing Sections

3-Band Parametric EQ
The EQ section provides boost and cut control for high, mid and low bands. Shift functions access frequency control for each band.

  • High band level and frequency
  • Mid band level and frequency
  • Low band level and frequency

Filter and Drive
The filter section includes low-pass and high-pass filtering, low-pass resonance and filter drive controls.

  • Low-pass filter cutoff
  • Low-pass filter resonance
  • High-pass filtering
  • Filter drive amount
  • Drive boost gain

Effects and Ducker
The effects section includes performance effects such as dub delay, chorus, flanger and reverb. A dedicated sidechain input allows an external signal, such as a kick drum, to duck the incoming audio with a fixed, no-click attack. The lower control sets the ducking amount, while its Shift function adjusts the release envelope.

Control and Visual Feedback

Colour-matched LEDs indicate the currently selected control section. The right-hand LED bar operates as an overall VU meter and temporarily displays the value of the parameter currently being adjusted.

An assignable CV input provides external modulation or control over a parameter regardless of the current interface switch position.

Presets

Store and recall settings across nine user preset slots. Presets can be morphed using CV.

Controls

  • I/O: Bypasses all processing sections
  • FX SEL: Selects the current effect
  • PRESET: Stores and recalls nine user presets
  • SHIFT: Accesses secondary button and knob functions
  • EQ / FILT / FX: Selects between EQ, filter, and effects/ducker control sets

Connections

  • DUCK: Dedicated sidechain input for the ducker
  • CV: Assignable CV input
  • IN L / IN R: Stereo inputs
  • OUT L / OUT R: Stereo outputs
