Originally conceived as a digital delay, the Echoplex Digital Pro quickly became one of the pioneering live looping devices of the early 1990s. Built around real-time recording, overdubbing and arrangement building, it allows phrases to be captured and immediately looped, with additional layers added on the fly.
Loops can be undone, stored, synchronised via MIDI and manipulated using functions such as Reverse and Multiplay, making it equally useful for guitarists, keyboard players and MIDI-based studio setups.
Unlike the tape-based Echoplex units that inspired its name, the EDP offers a clean digital signal path and a workflow focused on live performance. Its influence on modern looping devices is difficult to overstate, and it found favour with artists including Brian Eno and U2.
