1978 original Rickenbacker 4001 Deluxe with Bound Rosewood Board, Maple & Walnut Neck and Bound Maple Body with 2 Single coil Pickups, plus the famous Rick-O-Sound Stereo Output. Finished in possibly the most desirable of all finishes, the iconic tuxedo Jetglo.
As played by the likes of Chris Squire of YES, Lemmy (RIP), Bruce Foxton of The Jam, Phil Lynott on the early Thin Lizzy albums, Glen Matlock on Never Mind The Bollocks and countless other bass icons. These vintage 4001's really are something quite special & seldom seen for sale here in Australia.
Missing original 'Horseshoe' cover however included with this sale is a Gator Moulded Hardshell Case (in rough condition but fully functional) for shipping & transportation.
A few dings here and there but completely minimal and would suit both player and collector. There has been some evidence of minor separation between the fretboard and neck but rectified and very stable. Both truss rods are fully functional as well as this bass showing almost ZERO fret wear. We suspect it was setup with flatwounds (as instructed by RIC on the original paperwork provided with these basses) for its entire life up until now.
Some very minor 'tail-lift' on the original bridge however the consignee who is selling this with us has anecdotally said that there has been no movement in at least the last 5 years.
Setup with low action in standard tuning with EXL165's.
