One of only 140 DX-1 units ever produced, here is an extremely rare flagship from Yamaha, the introduced in 1983 as a no-expense-spared beast of FM synthesis. Two full 6-operator engines open up a huge palette from glassy digital tones through to more ‘authentic' instrument sounds with classic '80s depth. Essentially two DX-7s in one mammoth package, meaning layering of dual tones and split, plus a whole lot more.
The 73-note wooden keyboard with velocity and polyphonic aftertouch gives it a proper instrument feel, housed in a handmade Brazilian rosewood case. The front panel is loaded with displays and controls, making this one of the most approachable and fully realised DX synths Yamaha ever built. Made in Japan.
