The UR44 is Steinberg’s 4 channel addition to its audio interface lineup, offering a clear upgrade from the compact yet capable UR22. It includes the same Yamaha D-PRE microphone preamps used across the range (also found in Yamaha digital mixers), midi in and out capabilities and supports a maximum sample rate of 192kHz with a 24-bit rate. Compared to the UR22, the UR44 provides more inputs and outputs (six in, four out) and features a versatile low-latency monitoring system with built-in effects. The package comes with the Yamaha DSP bundle, which includes the REV-X reverb, Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip compressor/EQ, and the new Guitar Amps Classics amp simulator, along with a basic version of Cubase. It is also compatible with iOS devices using the appropriate Apple Connection Kit, making it a compelling choice for iPad-based music production.
