The VOX AC30 Hand-Wired Head is a 30-watt, all-valve amplifier built to closely follow early 1960s AC30 designs, using fully hand-wired circuitry and custom transformers developed from detailed analysis of an original 1963 copper-panel model. Its EL84 power section, phase inverter behaviour, and power supply are tuned to recreate the compression, harmonic complexity, and feel associated with vintage AC30s, including the characteristic voltage sag under load, while improving noise performance and reliability.
The head features the traditional Normal and Top Boost channels, a tube-driven spring reverb with level and tone controls, and a master volume that is removed from the circuit when fully opened. A FET-buffered, bypassable effects loop is included for modern pedal integration without colouring the core tone. Rated at 30 W RMS with selectable 8 Ω or 16 Ω outputs, it is designed to pair directly with the V212HWRX cabinet or a wide range of external speaker cabinets.
