The flagship of Yamaha’s SK “Symphonic Ensemble” series in the early 80s, combining multiple sound engines into a double tiered all-in-one featuring drawbar organ, string machine, poly-synth, monophonic synth, and bass synth sections.
Both manuals deliver rich, tonewheel-style organ voices with percussive attack and rotary speaker emulation, while the strings and poly section evoke the textures of Yamaha's CS-series.The solo synthesiser can be routed through the string ensemble, and the bass section provides thick analogue low-end. Lovely analogue stereo ensemble, chorus, and tremolo effects built-in.
The SK50D stands as one of the last great analogue ensemble keyboards before Yamaha shifted to full digital synthesis with the DX line, a transitional period between 1970s divide-down architecture and early polyphonic synthesis.
Includes original hard case lid, pedal and legs. The locking mechanism that would ordinarily secure the legs inside the lid is not functional.
