1965 Martin D-18 featuring the complete honduran mahogany back & sides with gorgeous spruce top that has aired out wonderfully over the years, made in Nazareth at the end of the Golden Age of dreadnoughts.
25" scale length full-sized neck (not as slim as other '60s Martins we've seen) with rosewood fingerboard, 16" radius & T-bar, predating the steel tubes and truss rods to come later. 5/16" non-scalloped spruce X-bracing (rear-shifted), two spruce tone bars under the sound board with the atypical smaller maple bridge plate, all non-plasticised nitrocellulose lacquer finish with Grover rotomatic tuners, real celluloid pickguard and rosewood bridge.
Airy, light and dry; the D-18 is the absolute standard in Acoustics.
Includes Hiscox 'I' flight case.
Original bridge has been replaced and reset. Neck has been reset before in the past however is nearing closer to another with the 12-45 gauge strings on (concert pitch).
The pickguard has been reseated at some point and there have been some cracks in the body near the guard and below the bridge on the lower bout that have been glued in the past yet there is some rippling in the soundboard.
Frets aren't particularly low however showing some minor wear.
Action at bass side 12th fret: 3.2mm Action at treble side 12th fret: 2.8mm
A fantastic sounding Martin,
