Zvex Hand Painted Box of Rock

The Z.Vex Box of Rock is a distortion pedal designed to recreate the sound of a classic Marshall JTM45 non-master-volume amplifier turned all the way up.

While it can be used effectively with a wide range of amplifiers, the pedal was voiced with a Marshall amplifier in mind. Its gain response also works closely with your guitar’s volume control, allowing you to move from driven tones to clean, clear sounds without changing the pedal’s drive setting.

On Vexter versions, the distortion section is labelled “distortron engine”—the name given to Z.Vex’s distortion circuit. Hand-painted versions instead label the right-hand footswitch “ROCK”, due to limited space for the longer wording.
