VCM is Random Source's Eurorack adaptation of the famed Serge Wave Multipliers module.
It provides you with three classic and distinct circuits for adding harmonic content to audio.
The top Wave Multiplier provides a subtle overdrive-like effect in the “Hi” position and acts as a linear VCA when switched to “Lo.” The middle Wave Multiplier provides voltage-controllable emphasis of the odd harmonics of each of its two audio inputs, useful for generating woodwind-like sounds, among other applications.
The third section mainly emphasises the even harmonics of its inputs but also provides extra harmonic content and coloration across a wide frequency range; the travel of the “Fold” knob is one big sweet spot! This section also has a “squared” out for even more sonic variety, making it perfect for use with sub-octave modules such as the NCOM. Used in conjunction, the Serge Wave Multipliers provide a whole new range of timbres to explore.
