The ProMars was notably unique due to its use of microprocessor control, earning it the name "Compuphonic." It utilises an Intel 8048 processor to manage its all-analogue VCOs, VCAs, and VCFs, allowing for patch storage and making it one of the first analogue synths with patch memory.

The ProMars Compuphonic includes 10 preset sounds and 10 user-programmable patches. The preset sounds are Bass, String, Clavi, Piano, Voice, Trombone, Sax, Trumpet, Synth I, and Synth II. A well-organised set of knobs, sliders, and edit controls enables users to create a wide range of impressive sounds.

Designed as a companion to the polyphonic Jupiter-4, the ProMars is often seen as a mono version of the Jupiter 4. However, unlike the Jupiter 4, which had one oscillator per voice, the ProMars features two oscillators that can be detuned to tastefully fatten up your signal. It also includes a VCF (filter) with its own ADSR, a VCA envelope section, an LFO, and a pitch/mod wheel that can affect the LFO, VCF, or VCA. It also features a noise generator and vintage-style wood end caps to give you a true classic in both sound and look.

Notable users include Aphex Twin, Vangelis, Venetian Snares and Isao Tomita.

240 volt unit with Aus power plug. Serviced prior to listing. Includes original manual. In fantastic condition for it's age, a couple of noticeable marks on top of chassis.
