Mid 1970s SG Bass from the Matsumoku factory featuring mahogany body with bolt on bound neck and single pickup - obviously paying homage to the brand with the big G! A great short scale thumper with vintage mojo in spades. Made in Japan.
Original pickup has been replaced with a Telecaster bridge pickup (designed for guitar) but oh man, it actually sounds really decent! Gone are the flubby lows of the original 'Mudbucker' design.
Back control cavity plate has been replaced with a handcrafted type that appears to be made of a Blue Ribbon Ice Cream Container. We're not sure what flavour it was but the bass itself sure ain't vanilla!
Currently setup with half-wound strings for some serious thumpy vibes!
