The Korg SQ-64 is a compact polyphonic step sequencer designed to control analogue synthesizers, Eurorack systems, drum machines and MIDI instruments. Featuring a 64-pad step matrix, OLED display and aluminium enclosure, it combines extensive sequencing capabilities with hands-on control and a wide range of connectivity options.

The SQ-64 provides three melodic tracks, each supporting up to eight-note polyphony, alongside a dedicated drum track with 16 monophonic sub-tracks. Each melodic track offers 16 patterns of up to 64 steps, while the drum sub-tracks also support sequences of up to 64 steps. Patterns can be edited, chained and played back in different configurations, allowing complex arrangements to be developed across multiple instruments.

Dedicated Gate, Pitch and Modulation editing modes provide detailed control over individual steps. Each melodic track features its own CV Pitch, Gate and Modulation outputs, allowing three separate analogue synthesizer voices to be sequenced simultaneously. Eight independent trigger outputs provide additional control over drum modules, percussion synthesizers and other gate-triggered equipment.

MIDI connectivity includes one MIDI input and two MIDI outputs, allowing the SQ-64 to sequence external MIDI instruments alongside its analogue outputs. USB connectivity provides integration with computers and compatible MIDI equipment, while dedicated Sync In and Out connections support synchronisation with Korg volca instruments, monologue, minilogue and other compatible devices.

The 64-pad matrix provides direct access to sequence programming and editing, with the OLED display offering visual feedback for parameters and settings. With a tempo range of 30–300 BPM and support for USB bus power or an external 9V power supply, the SQ-64 provides a flexible sequencing centre for hardware-based and hybrid setups.
