Built in the Matsumoko factory in Japan, the Univox brand guitars and basses were imported into the USA in the 1970s, also under the name Esquire. The Coily Bass is bassed on the Epiphone Rivoli 335 shaped body, featuring dual pickups and 3-way selector switch, flamey maple archtop in distinctive and stylish red burst. Feels great to play. Tone is thumpy but can get a growl on!
Includes Hiscox hard case and optional string dampener. Electronics have been modified to master volume, master tone and two dummy knobs (lower).
Original pickup covers have been spray painted black and pickup surrounds have been installed with wood screws but function okay. There is also a card shim in the neck pickup enclosure to stop the pickup from rattling.
Set up with ultra low action & La Bella light tension flats.
