Greco’s RG-850 was built in Japan at the FujiGen factory around 1989–1990 as part of their RG series, directly inspired by the Rickenbacker 330. These models carried the semi-hollow maple construction and jangly single-coil sound associated with ‘60s British Invasion bands, but with the reliable craftsmanship of late-era Greco. The design included the familiar dual-cutaway body, 24.75" scale, and a distinctive control layout with a blend knob alongside the standard volume and tone controls. Today the RG-850 stands as one of Greco’s more unusual offerings, bridging their well-known Gibson and Fender replicas with a nod to Rickenbacker’s cult following.
