The U87 could be said to be a descendant of the iconic U67 of the early 1960s, utilising the same dual diaphragm design. Its head amplifier also adheres to the similar design principles as its predecessor, however instead of valves the U 87 Ai implements these principles through a FET circuit with a streamlined signal path and a transformer-balanced output, guaranteeing utmost signal integrity and exceptional common mode rejection.
