A slice of 1960s Japanese organ history, the Ace Tone Top 3 was one of Ikutaro Kakehashi’s early creations before he went on to found Roland. Built for portability and affordability, it packed three octaves of transistor-driven keys with a buzzy, reedy voice that carved its way into garage, surf and Group Sounds bands. With built-in vibrato and a raw, lo-fi character, it delivered a cut-rate alternative to Farfisa and Vox organs.
