1962 Maton Supreme Electric EG 240 thinline double cutaway with A grade maple archtop. Round shoulders and slim body, finished in cherry showing off gorgeous checking in the finish. Stinger on back with open gear tuners and white buttons. Made in Melbourne, Australia.
Includes original Stamford case and copy of the order sheet signed by Maton founder, Bill May.
One tuner screw has been replaced and new strap pin at heel have been replaced, all long ago by Bill May.
Anecdotally; the guitar itself was a custom order by a longtime friend of Bill May, who at some point commissioned Bill to reluctantly install a Bigsby B7 Vibrato tailpiece. Consequentially, Bill removed the Bigsby, reinstalled the original tail piece & covered the drilled holes with red tape.
