The Axis 49 is a velocity sensitive midi usb controller which uses the Harmonic table note layout. It looks a little complicated, but it's based on a method of arranging the chromatic scale developed around the 17th century, and used on instruments like the Hohner Harmonetta from the 1950s.
The note layout is surprisingly intuitive with common chords easily played using only one or two fingers. Most people are playing familiar melodies within a few minutes so knowledge of music theory isn't necessary. If you're looking for a novel approach to composing harmonically and melodically, this is the device for you!
