Introduced in 1959 as Gibson’s most affordable solid body, the Melody Maker shared much of its DNA with the Les Paul Junior but came with thinner pickups, a slim slab mahogany body and a narrow simplified Gibson headstock. By 1961 it had shifted to a pointed double cutaway design, like this incredible 1964 example in Sunburst with superb checking on the finish. It features rosewood fretboard and a single bright and responsive "Fender-style" single-coil at the bridge. Built in Kalamazoo, USA.
