Rare 1961 Guild Starfire fully hollowbody featuring a laminated mahogany top with F-holes with a one-piece mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard.
Equipped with the original open-back Grover Waverly tuners, original 1960s white-topped DeArmond Dynasonic pickups (the same used on 1950s Gretsch models). Other features include the transparent amber "G-logo" knobs, an original harp-shaped 1960s Guild Bigsby / 'Guigsby' vibrato tailpiece (just introduced in 1961), metal plate truss rod cover with the Starfire logo, plastic 'poker-chip' around the selector switch, early style pickguard with beautiful sloped 'Gretsch-style' curve instead of the later ladder-stepped design.
These pre-1962 Guild Starfires are the finest of their types, considerably undervalued in the electric guitar world & command only a fraction of the price in comparison to their contemporaries. Vastly superior to any reissue made by Guild & truer to spirit of the Starfire than the later mini-humbucker equipped models.
Hand crafted in Hoboken, New Jersey, USA.
Includes original tan brown & green-lined Lifton case with Guild Badge.
