Built at the legendary FujiGen plant in 1978, this was Ibanez’s first all-original design series, stepping boldly away from lawsuit-era clones and proving they could out-build just about anyone. Featuring a bolt-on 3-piece maple neck, a 24-fret ebonised rosewood board, and a multi-lam ash and mahogany body, it’s all punch, warmth, and clarity.
The Ibanez Super 77 humbuckers dish out plenty of vintage bark, while the Gibraltar bridge/tailpiece combo holds tuning and sustain like a champ. This one sports the updated body shape with smaller horns and symmetrical waist, introduced mid-’78.
