The 1979 Ovation Breadwinner is a distinctive solid-body electric guitar produced by the Ovation Guitar Company between 1972 and 1979. Notable for its unique ergonomic design, the Breadwinner features a mahogany body shaped to resemble an axe, providing comfortable balance and playability.

Key Features:

  • Body and Finish: Constructed from mahogany, the Breadwinner's body is coated with Ovation's "LyraChord" material, offering a textured finish available in various colors, including black, white, blue, and tan.

  • Neck and Fingerboard: It boasts a bolt-on two-piece Honduras mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard, featuring 24 frets and dot inlays.

  • Pickups and Electronics: Early models are equipped with Ovation's toroidal single-pole pickups, while later versions, like the 1979 model, feature mini-humbucker pickups. The guitar includes an active FET preamp, providing a wide range of tones, with controls for volume, tone, a three-way pickup selector, and a notch filter switch for midrange frequency adjustment.

  • Hardware: The Breadwinner comes with chrome-plated hardware, including a brass bridge and 12:1 ratio machine heads, ensuring stable tuning and intonation.

The Ovation Breadwinner stands out for its innovative design and versatile sound, making it a notable instrument in the history of electric guitars.

Includes original brown case.
