Iconic 1957 'Convertible' archtop from Gretsch, NY featuring a gorgeous close-grained spruce top with maple back and sides and 3-piece neck topped with a bound roeewood fingerboard with pearl humps. Pearl inlayed 'Block letter' logo over rosewood veneer on headstock with original Grover Imperial tuners in gold. Featuring the original DeArmond Dynasonic high-output single coil pickup which has now been installed into the soundboard.
Originally a Bamboo Yellow / Copper Mist colourway - this '50s Gretsch is an all natural rocker that is both incredibly light and resonant.
Made in USA.
Includes non original TKL hard-shell case. Non-original Gretsch Synchromatic styled bridge, modified pick-guard, evidence of a neck reset and modified neck-heel. Original floating pickup modified and mounted to body; original pickup mount included.
Body finish has been stripped back long ago however varnished and nicely worn in. Refretted long ago with plenty of life left in vintage-size frets and setup with low action across the board. No evidence of any warping or hump in fingerboard or neck. Non original bone nut has been fitted too.
A great player-grade vintage Gretsch from their golden age!
