The KG-1 is a Gibson-made student guitar, taking a leaf out of the Fender book and focusing on keeping production costs and manufacturing time to a minimum they employed a bolt on neck approach and used melody maker pickups to appeal to a whole new market of would-be guitar heroes.
This single-pickup Flame Red model from the '60s has had the GV19 Vibrola and tailpiece removed and as an extra oddity has a double serial number stamped on the headstock. One original knob has been replaced, some honest (but minor) wear for a 60-something year old.
